What to expect exploring Berlin;

Architecture

Sure most major cities in Europe have phenomenal architecture but Berlin is definitely impressive to the naked eye, a collection of different tastes in art added by each government that made Berlin its home, it is the perfect combination of vintage and modern. The Berlin Cathedral and the Berlin State Library are great examples of the detail and unparalleled architecture found in this flourishing city.

Food

Schnitzel, schnitzel and more schnitzel. And there is nothing wrong with that. You can have chicken, pork or beef schnitzel and I do encourage you to try every single one. They know how to cook their meat and potatoes in this city.

Bier

You can’t go to Germany without getting a few cold brews during your trip. They take pride in some of their best selling biers like Weihenstephaner, Stiegl and Hacker Pschorr. You can find any of these in pretty much every convenient store, restaurant and bar. Germany knows bier.

History

Everyone knows what went down in this city during the 2nd World War. It may not exactly be part of one’s itinerary to go through the sad details of the Nazi takeover and that’s absolutely fine but do take some time out of your exploration of Berlin to explore some of the beautiful artwork made for those victims of the Holocaust. The Holocaust Memorial for example designed by Architect Peter Eisenman is a beautiful tribute to those fallen angels. His arrangement of different cement pillars of different shapes and sizes leave the interpretation of the memorial up to the mind of the visitor.

Nightlife

Well Damn, Berlin knows how to party. My favorite night was spent at Matrix, a club that didn’t close until 7 am, where all of Berlin’s travelers and explorers also like to let loose, it is a great time and if you’re looking to get the most of nightlife in Berlin, this should be on your list.

Art

East side gallery! Enough said. This is the east side of the wall where the border to close of the West side of Berlin was originally located. This was the point that I fell in love with Berlin. Walking the wall to my hotel was such a beautiful experience, the compilation of different murals and meanings behind the pieces really represent the beauty and culture held in this city.
